Brother Wireless Printer Troubleshooting

Posted by Richerd Wilson | Posted in , , | Posted on 9:42 PM

The wireless capabilities of Brother's line of printers eliminates the hassles of connecting electrical cables and keeping them out of view. Most Brother wireless printers allow the user to accomplish several tasks with the same printer. Aside from printing, these printers also support scanning and faxing. Perhaps the most common problem associated with these printers is the failure to print anything at all. To avoid much of the guesswork typically association with troubleshooting a printer, Brother wireless printers use a digital display screen that often provides an error message. However, one error message often encompasses several problems.

Printer Fails to Print

1. If the printer fails to print, first make sure the printer's electrical power supply cord is plugged into a wall outlet and that the "On/Off" key, located on top of the printer, is pressed. If the printer has power, determine whether the printer is online. Click the "Start" button on the desktop, then select "Printers and Faxes." Right-click one time on the printer's icon and make sure that the "Use Printer Offline" selection does not have a checkmark next to it. If a checkmark does appear, left-click one time on "Use Printer Offline."

If the printer still fails to print, make sure the computer is able to read the wireless signal. Each wireless access router has a unique network settings number programmed into the unit by the factory, as well as a network name. If this information is unknown, contact the manufacturer and be prepared to give the unit's serial number. Press the "5" button on the printer to display the "Network" option, followed by "2" to enter the "Setup Wizard." When the display reads, "WLAN Enable?," press the "1" button to accept. Scroll through the network settings numbers by pressing the arrow keys on the printer until the network's name appears, then press the "OK" button. Enter the network settings number using the printer's keypad, then press "OK." The printer may take a few minutes to connect to the computer, and when it does, the printer will display a "Connected" message.

Error Messages

2. If the printer produces a "No Paper Fed" message, either the printer is out of printing paper or there is a paper jam. After loading the printer with paper or clearing a paper jam, press either the "Black Start" or the "Color Start" button. An "Out of Memory" message means that the printer's memory is full. This message typically appears if the fax or scan functions are in use and the machine is in the process of scanning or faxing documents. Press the "Stop/Exit" button, then wait for the first task to finish. The "Out of Memory" message will also display if a memory card or USB drive does not have enough memory for the attempted task. Either upgrade to a device with a larger capacity or delete files from the existing device.

The machine weighs near about 5.7 kgs. It has a special memory block of 8 MB. The features of the Samsung ML-840 Printers are better from the other similar printers of its kind. The printer offers a sound resolution of 1200dpi x 600dpi, which is really good. The MLT-D1082S cartridge used enhances the quality of the prints to a great extent.

The technical aspect of these printers is worth for the price charged of the Samsung ML-1640. The quality on the basis of resolution gives a clear picture view. The connection to the system can be made by the use of simple USB ports instead of the group of wires that often creates a messy appearance near the work station. With all these benefits the lack of memory card reader can be compensated. The memory card reader is not present in the Samsung ML-1640 printers.

The clarity of the prints on the A4 sheets is the major aspect which symbolizes the perfection of the printer. The speed is appreciable with a clear resolution of texts and pictures. ML-1640 is compatible with most of the widely used operating systems, like Windows 2000/XP//2003 Server/Vista, Various Linux OS, and even with Mac OS X 10.3~10.5.

Dell Laser Printer Error Codes

Posted by Richerd Wilson | Posted in , , , | Posted on 9:51 PM

The Dell Laser Printer is one of the best around in the market. However, many users complain about the numerous error codes they frequently receive. Here are some troubleshooting tips on fixing these errors effectively.

Error code: 004-332

This type of error code implies that you need to restart the printer again. However, do check to see if toner cartridges are seated in the proper position. Also ensure that they have been locked in. This is an error commonly associated with the Dell 3100cn laser printer.

Error code: 016-370

This is yet another error message asking you to restart the printer. You need to switch off the printer and then connect it via the USB cable. Press the hold and cancel buttons simultaneously. Then power on the printer again. On your LCD display you should typically see a message saying 'ready for download mode'. You will then need to initialize the firmware update process.

Error code: 009-360

Sometimes the Dell laser printer only recognizes the yellow toner as 'missing'. Hence you need to replace the Dell toner with a new one. It can happen when the toner is a remanufactured one with a different chip.

Error type: Not printing black text

This type of error happens because of a problem with the power supply. You need to check if the I/O cable is connected properly or not and that all connections are in place.

Error type: Printing text in red

At certain times you might be able to print perfectly well the first two times and then you see the text being covered in red color. This can happen if the unit is still not properly clean. You could try cleaning the tube.

Error message: Insert yellow toner

Sometimes in spite of replacing the yellow toner in your Dell 5100 cn laser printer you might still get this error message. Try to change the black cartridge. You could also check to see if the toner cartridges are locked appropriately.

Error message: Print head error

This type of error message typically happens when the printer head is not clean enough. You could try installing software that is used to clean the head of the printer. You could try clicking on 'start' then go to 'settings' and then 'printers'. Select your printer and right click on it and go to 'properties'. Check to see if there is any such software installed.

Error code: 1200

This error code is commonly associated with the Dell 922 printer. Usually you might see the cartridge moving front and back and slamming itself against the printer. You need to tighten the strings located on the back of the printer and then it should work fine.

Error message: Parallel port maybe used by another application

This is an error message commonly found when you are trying to make a second scanning operation. Try downloading the printer driver according to your specific operating system. You could also try setting a different parallel port in the BIOS.

Possible reasons for this error to emerge include the likes of having a damaged printer driver, incorrect printer settings on your system and the wrong settings on your PC. The error itself will often appear in this format:

    * "Printer not activated - Error code 20

In order to fix the HP error 20, you need to be able to repair the problems which first cause it to show. The various issues which lead to this error include the likes of the printer not being set as the default, printer drivers being missing and registry errors on your system.

The first step to fixing this error is to set the printer as the default printing device on your system. This can be done by clicking on Start > Printers & Faxes, locating the HP printer and then right-clicking on it. Select the "Set As Default" option for this printer, which should allow your computer to print from it. This is important because each time Windows wants to print something, it's continually having to open the printer that you want to print from. The only problem is that it's often the case that the "default" printer is not selected properly, leading your computer to get confused about the one it needs to print with.

The second step to fixing the error is to reinstall the driver & software for your printer. The driver & software for your printer are basically the files used to help Windows communicate with your printing device, and are extremely important if you want to print out anything on your system. In order to fix the printing error, you need to be sure that the printer is working as smoothly as possible, which should be done by reinstalling the driver it requires to run. To do this, you can download the driver from the HP website, and then completely uninstall the driver on your system. This will then allow you to install a fresh copy of the driver, which will be free or errors / corruptions.

The final step to fixing this error is to use a registry cleaner program to fix any potential errors that will be inside your computer. A registry cleaner is a very popular type of software tool that's been designed to fix a large number of errors on your PC. They basically work by scanning through your computer and fixing a number of potential errors that are inside your system, allowing your PC to run much faster and smoother. One of the big problems for HP Printers is that their drivers place a huge number of settings on your PC, which often get damaged or corrupted. If you want to fix the errors these software tools have, then it's recommended you use a registry cleaner to clean out all the issues on your system.

49.4C02 Error Following a Paper Jam

Posted by Richerd Wilson | Posted in , | Posted on 12:30 AM

The 49.4C02 error usually follows a paper jam. When the customer closes a door after clearing the jammed media from one area of the printer, the control panel immediately posts a 49.4C02 error. Often, the customer will then power cycle the printer and it will hang at Checking Printer. For the 49 error to occur, additional media must still be stuck in the paper path.

Firmware version 5.005.3 contains a fix that allows the printer to recover and notify the customer of the location of the additional jammed media in the paper path. Customers who experience this issue should update to the newer firmware. This version of firmware also fixes the issue with the printer hanging in Checking Printer.
Since a paper jam is the event that triggered the 49 error, if paper jams continue, troubleshoot as necessary.

How to Clear a Paper Jam on a Canon Inkjet Printer?

Posted by Richerd Wilson | Posted in , , , | Posted on 11:33 PM

Follow the Instructions on how to Clear paper jam on Canon Inkjet Printer:

  • Protect yourself from shock. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the Canon Inkjet Printer. This is an important step when working inside ANY electronic device. Unhinge the back access panel of the printer. It seems repetitive to say this, but this door will be in the BACK of the printer.
  • Look through the opened back panel and look for paper. Remove any and all paper you find jammed there. Close the back access panel. Make sure that it latches into place and looks the same way that it did before you opened it.
  • Find the front or top access panel. This is the panel you would lift to change ink cartridges. Open this access panel. If the carriage that holds the ink cartridges moves, then you forgot to unplug the printer, go back and do that now. Look for paper that may be jammed in this area of the printer.
  • Remove any paper you find jammed here. When pulling from the front there will be resistance from the paper feeder. Pull slowly or the paper will rip and create a more stressful problem.
  • Close the front access panel. Make sure that it falls or latches back in place. It should look the same way that it did before you opened it.
  • Plug the printer's power cord into the wall outlet, and attempt to print again. If the printer prints the job, then you have successfully removed the paper jam.

Following the steps above you can clear the paper jam issue on your canon inkjet printer installed on your Windows based PC.
