Solve Printing Problems

Few issues seem to cause their users more problems in regards to Information Technology than printers. Printers are simple devices, straight forward to use, and require little if any maintenance, but when they do produce problems, it normally leaves their user dumbfounded, and it normally happens just when they need the printer the most.

In this article, I'll provide some information on how to get the best out of your printer so that you can get the print results you desire, on how to maintain is life and avoid any issues along the way.

As stated earlier, printers are fairly simple devices. The paper is fed into the printer, the toner or ink cartridge prints to the page whilst inside the printer, and the printer feeds the paper back out to the output tray. These are the 3 main steps, and with these, are the 3 issues that could potentially cause problems for users.

Firstly, believe it or not, you need to ensure you're using the correct type of paper for your printer, as there is different thicknesses and weights. Using an incorrect printer could not only cause jams in your printer due to the paper not being feed through properly, but it could also results in poor print quality. Look for a good quality print paper. Most printers should be able to use a multifunction paper which is 80g/A4 and is suitable in photocopiers, laser printers, mono inkjet printers and plain paper faxes.

The toner is also an important point. When possible, try to use the original manufacturers toner, as this is guaranteed to be compatible with your chosen printer, which should therefore result in less issues, and a better print quality.

Printers require little maintenance, if any at all, but one thing you can do to try and keep away any printing issues is to fan your paper before placing it in the printers tray. Fanning the paper basically separates the pages so that the printer can easily feed an individual sheet at a time. Normally, when printing paper is stored in its packaging, it'll develop static which will make the pages stick together. Without fanning the pages, the pages will likely stick together whilst in the tray, meaning more than one page at a time may be feed into the printer during printing, which may result in a paper jam.

If you do experience a paper jam, the easiest resolution is to remove the paper tray and toner, and thoroughly clear out any paper wedged inside paying special attention to small bits of paper floating about, as even these can cause paper jams in the future if there not removed straight away.

If your printer produces poor print quality, it can be one of three things. It can either be poor printing paper as discussed earlier. It can be as a result of your print settings within your operating system, or it can be as the result of a dodgy toner cartridge. Believe it or not, it's possible for toners (as simple as they are) to come out malfunctioning out of the factory. If they do malfunction, you may see strange print patterns on the page. However, before replacing the toner due to this, it's worth giving the inside of the printer a clean with a dry cloth, just in case there's dried toner flakes floating around, as these could be causing the issue. If you've already done this, and the printout is still not to your liking, it's worth exchanging the toner as it's likely faulty.

As stated earlier, printers are simple devices, but can cause problems if some basic steps aren't carried out by its user. So to make your life as simple as possible, follow the steps in this article, and hopefully it'll be the last of your printing issues.

Printer Troubleshooting - Tips to Restore Laser Printer Performance

Like all laser printers, the Kyocera laser printer also has its set of performance woes that could be resolved by simple troubleshooting. When the printer has been in operation for a long time, troubles usually commence with the rubber rollers or from the sensitive components that are already aging. However if trouble emanates from the toner cartridge, a Kyocera compatible cartridge replacement can resolve the issue and allow trouble free printing to proceed once again. Defective Rollers. The function of the rubber rollers is to seamlessly move paper from one printer component to the next; failure often results in paper jams. The Kyocera laser printer employs several of these rubber rollers in its operations. This begins with the pick-up rollers from the paper tray to the OPC Drum (Organic Photo Receptive); to the fuser assembly rollers and down to the exit rollers that is responsible for the exit of paper from the printer. Since paper is abrasive, continuous contact will result in t...
