Three Ways to Resolve a Printer-Driver Error

All printers require device drivers in order to communicate with an operating system and function properly on a computer. Most computer users also know that printers are infamous for their problems, driver errors especially. Not only can these errors spell trouble for your printer, but also your entire computer, particularly from a performance aspect.

The obvious steps in resolving such errors is to either turn your hardware off and back on or check to see if it is properly connected to the computer. When these simple methods do not work, one must take other routes to resolve printer driver errors. Below we listed three of the most effective alternative methods:

1.) Resolving Printer Driver Errors by Delete Open Print Jobs

Aside from turning the machine off and on or checking the connection, the easiest way to resolve a printer driver error is to make sure all old printing jobs have been stopped. The errors from this overlooked problem seem pretty simple, but can be very frustrating.

To resolve such an error, click on the "Start" button, select "Settings," and then click "Printers and Faxes." Now choose your printer from the provided list, right-click and select "Open."

If there are any print jobs still running, they will be listed here. Locate any jobs, highlight them, right-click and select delete. After deleting the print jobs, it is highly recommended to restart both your printer and computer to allow the changes to take effect.

2.) Check in the Device Manager

If you are still experiencing printer driver errors, the next best place to resolve them would be in the Device Manager, a built-in Windows utility. This utility can usually be launched through the Control Panel. Once inside, search for the printer that is stirring up all the trouble.

In most cases, all troubled devices are specified by a yellow triangle. After you have located the appropriate printer, right-click to bring up the driver options. You should be able to decide whether you want to "update," "disable," or "uninstall" the driver.

If you want to automatically search for available updates via the internet, choose update. If you want to perform the driver update yourself, choose uninstall to remove current version. If the printer driver is impacting the performance of your computer, you could choose to disable it.

3.) Reinstall Original Printer Drivers

If you are absolutely certain that driver errors are the root of your problem, another option for resolving it could be as simple as finding the installation disc that came with the hardware. This disc contains software and the original drivers that were installed on your computer.

If the installation disc is not available, you should visit the manufacturer's website online. Here you can learn if any updates are available for download. In fact, downloading the driver directly from the manufacturer is highly recommended as they will have the most updated version if any is available. This is mainly true because the drivers on the installation disc are likely to be old and outdated.

Like all laser printers, the Kyocera laser printer also has its set of performance woes that could be resolved by simple troubleshooting. When the printer has been in operation for a long time, troubles usually commence with the rubber rollers or from the sensitive components that are already aging. The Kyocera laser printer employs several of these rubber rollers in its operations. This begins with the pick-up rollers from the paper tray to the OPC Drum (Organic Photo Receptive); to the fuser assembly rollers and down to the exit rollers that is responsible for the exit of paper from the printer.
